The Loon and Our Founder
Our founder Sam Johnson was an outdoor enthusiast and nature photographer who loved to watch wildlife -- especially the loons who frequented his favorite lake. It was this love of nature that led him to create Johnson Outdoors. After his passing, we chose the loon as the company's symbol to represent Sam's passion for protecting wild spaces for generations to come.
